The Doge’s speech on page 151 was altered from the first issue – What crimes!’ was corrected to `His crimes!’ and 7 lines of text added. Byron based his play on an 18th century account of the events leading to the execution of Faliero in 1355. The poem, `The Prophecy of Dante’ was written in 1819
