Augusta, Lady Gregory, (1852-1932) was a leading member of the Irish Literary Revival. With W. B. Yeats (to whom the book is dedicated), and Edward Martyn, she founded the Abbey Theatre and and the Irish Literary Theatre, and wrote plays for both companies
