The colourful autobiography Sir Francis Bond Head (1973-1875). Head served in the British Army in the Royal Engineers 1811-1825, and then attempted to set up a mining company in Argentina. He was appointed Lieutenant-Governor of Canada in 1835, successfully suppressing a rebellion of the Reformers in 1837
